Mary Tyler Storms grew up in Ruston, Louisiana, where she graduated from Cedar Creek School’s Advanced Honors curriculum.  As a senior in high school, she earned AP English college credit and was admitted to Tulane University’s Honors Program.

​

 

She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in French from Tulane, graduating summa cum laude with departmental honors.  As a member of the class of 2020, Mary Tyler completed her undergraduate education under COVID-19 social distancing measures.

​

 

In 2018, Mary Tyler worked as a promotional writer at the North Central Louisiana Arts Council (NCLAC) in Ruston, where she developed content for NCLAC’s website, press releases, and event brochures.  In 2019, she was a web content writer at Louisiana New Product Development Team (LA NPDT) in Shreveport.  During her time at LA NPDT, she also worked on her senior honors thesis project and helped her family recover from EF-3 tornado damage to their home and workplace.

Mary Tyler is now a freelance writer.  In this capacity, she helps businesses and individuals reach their goals through the written word.  Her rigorous and tumultuous academic background has led her to value excellence, perseverance, and resilience in her business.  

​

 

Mary Tyler considers the Oxford comma to be very important.  She will use two spaces after a period unless specifically asked to do otherwise.  Her favorite English word is “paradoxical.”
